Religious Education

Our aim at Allhallows and Stoke Primary Academies is to develop children’s understanding and curiosity about Religious Education. Through exploration of different religious beliefs and cultures children can broaden their spiritual awareness, discuss similarities and differences between faith as well as make links to their own beliefs and opinions. Our approach aims to nurture inquisitive minds that respect and tolerate people of all cultures, backgrounds, faith and beliefs.

From Reception to year 6, different faiths and cultures are celebrated in various ways through RE lessons, PYP inquiries, a ‘thought for the week’ and assemblies which include a weekly assembly from our local church leader, Reverend Gwilt. 

Our schools follow the Medway and Kent agreed syllabus for the teaching of RE which focuses on Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism. As children progress through school they learn about key celebrations, religious buildings, books, stories, ideas and opinions in a way that suits their age, understanding and development.

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)

Through the teaching of PSHE, our aim at Allhallows and Stoke Primary Academies is to provide children with opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives now and in the future in order to be well rounded global citizens. PSHE helps children to stay healthy and safe, make the most of their life and work and provides them with the tools they need to reach their full potential. We aim to provide learning experiences that enable children to develop the necessary skills to participate fully in their school, local and wider communities. 

The teaching of PSHE is covered through inquiry lessons, assemblies, science as well as some discrete teaching. The three main themes include: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World. PSHE builds on skills that children start to acquire during the Early Years Foundation stage. Children discover and learn based on their current experiences which is then revisited, reinforced and extended year on year.

Most of PSHE education becomes statutory for all schools from September 2021 under the Children and Social Work Act 2017. 

This includes:

Relationships Education at key stages 1 and 2

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) at key stages 3 and 4* 

Health Education in both primary and secondary phases. 

*Important aspects of RSE can be taught at key stage 2 as non-statutory education.
